Welcome to Kathmandu! Welcome to NAG!

After two bumpy flights from Bali to Kuala Lumpur and then on to Kathmandu, I had finally arrived at my new home for the next few months. Here are some of my first impressions of Kathmandu and where I’m living now.

Time to Fly

Looking back, I’ve been thinking about this adventure for years!  However, the majority of the “wowza-this-is-actually-happening-I’ve-really-got-to-get-organized” stuff started 6 months ago.  On August 4th, 2018, I was finally ready to go. A tad nervous about this whole crazy idea and exhausted from all the thought and effort put into it, I just wanted to get on that plane and go!!

As soon as I left and headed to the train station, I came across a white feather. To a friend and I, coming across such a feather means our fathers are watching over us. What a comfort! Ready to travel with me was another little token of support, a little brown boar. This boar was given to me as a sort of joke, but he definitely had my back on the first leg of my journey to Nepal-that story is for another post...

Right before take-off from ZRH airport, a friend sent me a fitting Latin phrase: alis volat propiis

„She flies with her own wings.“

Enjoy!

...that is the question!

So, I’ve finally made it to Kathmandu, woo-hoo!  Already in the short time I’ve been traveling, it has been very evident how much one person can accomplish with a little courage, creativity and community.  I left the comforts of pristine Switzerland a little over two weeks ago and have met individuals along the way who know how to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.

People who have gone out on a limb to better the lives of themselves and of others.

People who do.

Yeah and that’s also what’s going on with me, too. I’m doin it.  I’m venturing out into this wild world on my own, trying something very new and ready to experience it all!

With this blog I’m attempting to document my experience here in Kathmandu (but also en route to and my travels afterwards). Hope you enjoy following my story.
And with that, I’m signing off with the answer to the question:

„To du or not to du?“...yes, go for it, do it!

Reason 3: Connections

The people I met here were warm, friendly, curious and eager to strike up a conversation. Whether chilling with the surf instructors, buyin...
